Jerusalem

Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, is a confluence of the old and the new. The Old city of Jerusalem is a crowded walled city where various aspects of the Abrahamic religions are on your face all the time and it gets quite intense. I enjoyed watching Shabbat celebrations at the western wall, walking to Dome of the Rock and trekking along the stations of the Cross.

Tel Aviv - Yafo

Tel Aviv, the economic hub of Israel is the second largest city in the country and is located on the Mediterranean sea. Yafo or Jaffa is the older port city to the south which was predominantly Arab. Today Jaffa is mostly an urban retreat and a tourist area.

Dead Sea, the hypersaline water body which is ~420m under sea level. Masada is the on top of an isolated rock plateau on the eastern edge of the Judean Desert overlooking the Dead Sea.
