Holiest place of the Baha’i religion
Terraces of the Bahá’í Faith or the Hanging gardens of Haifa are garden terraces around the Shrine of the Báb on Mount Carmel within Haifa, Israel.
The Baha’i faith was founded in Persia and Haifa hosts the world centre of the faith. The Baha’i faith is the latest religion churned out from the holy land (thanks Valerie). This grandiose structure, touted as the eighth wonder of the world, is a must visit place in Haifa, on the Mediterranean coast.

Hello there:
Thank you so much for sharing your visit to the Baha’i Gardens in Haifa; I appreciate it. However, I take exception to your statement that this is the latest religion churned out by the Holy Land. The Baha’i Faith is situated in Israel because this was the final banishment of Baha’u'llah during His ministry; the Faith itself began in Iran in the mid-1800s.
I just wanted to offer that clarification.
Sincerely,
Valerie Smith
Thank you Valerie for such an appropriate comment, I apologise for the negligence on my part. I do clearly remember reading about the history of Bahai faith but somehow missed to capture the information here. I will make the change to my post immediately. Appreciate your input.

Priyank, you have seen so much.
Thanks for sharing, I probably will never see this place. Anna
Hi Anna, never say never! LOL
The Baha’i gardens and Shrine in Haifa may not seem so extraordinary if other religions honored their Founders with beauty, but I’ve not noticed such.
The Baha’i Faith is associated with the holy land only because of the banishment of Baha’u'llah, in the 1860s, to an obscure corner of the Ottoman Empire – the prison across the bay from Haifa.
It is because of that historical event that the Baha’i World Center is located in Haifa. The gardens are a gift to the world. They are freely open to visitors and donations are not accepted, in fact, Baha’is are prohibited from accepting money from others for Baha’i projects.
Yes, visit and enjoy,

Hello dlherrmann, Welcome to my blog and thanks for the comment and the wonderful information you contributed. btw, not all religions have founders – Hinduism for example.
And here I thought you went to the Lotus Temple. I forgot they had one in Haifa as well. I went 2 years ago to the one in Wilmette, IL, a little north of Chicago, near Northwestern University.
Ah, I visited the Lotus temple in Delhi on my first backpacking trip.
stayed with a Bahai family at Panchgani (near Pune)
what a lovely experience ……and the food…….umm.
Thanks for stopping by Joe.
