Taktsang Dzong, tranquil and humbling.
Hiking to this monastery was among the most beautiful experiences I ever had.
Taktsang Lhakhang aka Tiger’s Nest Monastery is the holiest site in Bhutan. Perched miraculously on the side of a sheer cliff 900m above the base of Paro valley, the only sounds you can hear at the Taktshang Lhakhang are the murmurs of the wind and water and the chanting of mantras. The only way to reach up to the Tiger’s Nest is to walk, or fly on the back of a magic tiger. I picked the former…

Well, duh, obviously the magic tiger for me too. That is, if the flying dragon is always taken.
hehehehh!!
Priyank I like the way you said it, lol, perched – and you are right. You know I would love to spend some nice quite time in place like that. May be one day … Anna
Anna, indeed its like a different world out there! After going there, everything seems trivial – fights with friends, pursuit of money, getting degrees, buying a car….
Ok- what is the magic tiger? sounds more exciting…
I am not sure if this is right, but i’ve seem to recollect seeing photos of this monastery ( or at least a monastery perched against steep rock faces) in most bhutan related articles . just wondering if this is like a tourist must do monastery?
Hi Neeraja,
This site is like the Taj Mahal or the Pyramids of Bhutan… one can’t miss the star attraction. That said, the monastery is among the holiest shrines and Bhutanese consider it very sacred.
I so envy you for having reached that place! That looks very Shangri-La!
hehehe
wonderful shots, me and the husband are contemplating a trip to sikkim and bhutan….maybe we shall also trek to this lovely plc soon!!
Ah, have a good trip!!
