St. Petersburg’s architecture glitters after the sun goes down.
On my second night in St. Petersburg, the sky was clear, the wind was gentle and the weather was nice but cold. The sights I had seen while walking in the city during the day appeared quite different at night!

St. Petersburg is an architecturally rich city. From Baroque to neoclassical to romanticist and finally constructivist/Stalinist style of construction, the city is a museum in itself and a wonderful place for an amateur architecture buff like me.

I’ve noticed Russian architecture (I’ve seen in former East Germany) is very imposing in style, the buildings have a presence you can feel.
Hi Anil, in one phase, there were lots of buildings in the Empire style of construction. I find those the most imposing and cold.
Wait, Kunstkamera is different from the Hermitage? The Hermitage is the largest art museum ever, right? (I know, that sounded like a Valley Girl comment, but whatever…)
Yeah they are different. Kuntskamera was supposedly the first museum in Russia. Hermitage is the largest art museum ever..
