Oh, summer ends… how about some Canadian winter jokes?

Only 20:30 and it was pitch dark outside… I was wearing shorts and I felt a cool breeze… people are seen wearing light jackets on street at night… all these are signs that scream at you saying: SUMMER IS OVER! :(

I’m dedicating this post to some jokes about Canadian seasons that people love to share. Hope they make you laugh too!

  • There are only two seasons in Canada: Winter and Summer
  • There are only two seasons in Canada: Winter and Construction
  • There are only two seasons in Canada: 8 months of Winter and 4 months of bad ice skating
  • There are only two seasons in Canada: Very cold and cold
  • We only have winter in Canada. Oh and there’s August too
  • Actually there are four seasons in Canada: almost winter, Winter, still winter and waiting for winter
  • Driving is better in winter because potholes are filled with ice
  • People (that includes me) wear shorts as soon as it hits 15ºC
  • Schools don’t declare a ‘snow day’ unless there is a severe blizzard

When I went to India last year after spending 2 years in Canada, I was shocked to discover how Canadianised I had become. These are some of my real quotes:

  • “How was Bhutan?” someone asked me. “Pretty warm, it was 8 or 10 ºC or so…,” I said in a matter-of-fact way. Recalling that I was in Mumbai, I immediately corrected myself, “Oh it was extremely cold…”
  • “I can’t find my jacket…!” I was screaming across the house as I was going out (never leave your house without a jacket). Then I remebered it was Mumbai, where people seldom wear full sleeve shirts, forget having a sweater or a jacket.

Some of my snow / winter education…

  • One of my first jobs in Canada was “clearing the snow” off driveways.
  • I can actually distinguish between different types of snow. I’ll show you when it snows.
  • When there’s blue sky and very sunny outside,… the wind chill is probably -20ºC or so.
  • Don’t even attempt to answer your cellphone while you are wearing thermal gloves.
  • Hat is a part of your body.
  • It’s okay to go to people’s houses and remove your snow boots at the door. Infact, its expected.
  • Wear snow boots, always.
  • Never eat yellow snow. ;-)

Strange… I am kinda looking forward to snow…
