To add some spice to our rather routine blogging life, Odzer and I collaborated on this photo post. It shows certain common urban features in Toronto (Canada) where I live and Chandigarh (India) where he lives.

Traffic Signal (also called Stop light or Traffic light in North America. It took me a while to catch on that).
Crosswalk (North American term) or Zebra crossing (Indian term)
It was very interesting to do this post. The standardization of cities around the world amazes me. All these pictures are from my neighborhood and I am always armed with my camera, taking hundreds of pictures. We shall return with more interesting pictures.

In Colorado Springs, we have zebra crossings like in India.

(btw, I was only referring to the usage of terms ‘crosswalk’ vs’ zebra crossing’, I’m sure they come in several shapes and sizes!)
@ Priyank : I think i have only seen the bar type zebra crossings till now. I was actually surprised when I saw your photo.
Odzer, I hadn’t seen these types of crossings until I came to Toronto. Even here, zebra crossings are unpopular – they usually just draw two parallel lines indicating the space where people can walk.

@ Prax : Most of our roads within the union territory are nice. Although when you go towards the south of the city sometimes there can be a few small broken patches. You see three different roads in these pictures. The graffiti one is a cycle track for bicycles in sector 8. The traffic light one is taken near sector 9/10 intersection and the zebra crossing is next to sector 17/18.
Interesting idea, Priyank! Of course, Chandigarh is amongst the better planned cities in India. Some of the traffic signs, graffiti, etc., from other cities ought to be interesting too.
