Volume 1, Edition 1
Starting this week, ‘Toronto Tuesday’ will be a weekly photo feature about random stuff (landmarks, people, culture, seasons, etc.) in my city.
It’s snowing today. Here are some pictures from the heart of the city:

University Ave. as seen when one exits Osgoode subway station.

Nathan Phillips Square and Old City hall
The reflecting pool in the middle of the square is converted to an ice rink during winter. This is where I crashed on ice everyday, until one day I could ice skate. ![]()

Toronto city hall
The ‘new’ Toronto City Hall (old city hall is in the picture above) is an imposing structure and its modernist design is a distinctive landmark of the city.

I miss the snow! The city looks so cozy.
Bindu,
I love the snow too!
I visited the exact same sights you have back in November. Old City Hall, New City Hall with the painting-slash-statue made of nails inside, and Osgoode Hall. I even saw a white squirrel in that same avenue while walking from the Supreme Court!
Hey LIW, thats pretty cool. The place where I worked was right next to these buildings so I took this path daily!
I can’t say I miss the snow, sitting in my cozy 70F room in Mumbai:) (Sorry, but had to rub it in:)
Your post made me remember winters in Massachusetts when I used to fall at least once a week.
I visited Toronto about 10 years back and remember thinking that it was a cleaner version of NYC and people were more polite. The CN Tower was a big attraction then.
Hi Vamsee,
LOL Atleast once a week? Thats a lot! Yes many people have told me that Toronto is cleaner than NYC, but I didn’t notice much difference in cleanliness. Politeness yes maybe.
And 70F? That’s 21 deg C right? We use the ‘normal’ metric system here, unlike our neighbors south of border.
The city looks so grey and gloomy!! Or is it just that the sun is not out yet?
Hi Amit,
Winters are not the brightest times of the year!
My visit to Toronto also was about ten years ago, but that was in summer. These winter pictures remind me of an argh…cold, but exciting, winter trip to New York.
Glad you started this TT series.:)
Celine, cool. 10 years is a long time, you must take another trip soon
Until I read Celine’s comment, I didn’t realize that you were going to do a series on Toronto. I didn’t read the small print:)
Anyway, cool idea.
BTW, you got tagged. Check it out on my blog. http://letsgoforavacation.blogspot.com/
Vamsee, I’ll pickup the tag soon! Cheers
Hi Priyank! Amazing pictures. I saw the sites in 1983 (getting old…), but there was no snow
Meanwhile Blogtrotter has entered Rajasthan! Enjoy and have a great weekend!
1983?? Wow Gill, I was 2 years old and probably peeing in my bed then!
I have visited a few times while on seminars, I liked Toronto, lots to do, again great shots.
Come visit again Bob!

Thanks Ocean. Welcome to my blog!
Snow is nice, but dull feeling it brings along is not nice, crashing on ice is bad (i know) but ice skating is super cool
Hey!!
What happened to the second comment I posted two days back!!
Didn’t realize you were going to do a series on Toronto. That is great. Can’t wait for pictures of spring.
